The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) initiated a recall on two Walmart Great Value bakery items sold in the store after pieces of plastic were found in the products.

The JM Smucker Company LLC and the FDA voluntarily recalled the two bakery items after discovering that they may be contaminated by plastic. Overall, 19,224 cases of the Great Value Cinnamon Rolls and 24,324 cases of the Great Value Cheese Danishes were recalled, and both were sold exclusively at Walmart stores and distributed nationwide.

The following bakery products are included in the recall, both displaying the lot number L092525200 269X:

  • Great Value Cheese Danishes sold in 16.5-ounce containers with a printed UPC of 078742201177
  • Great Value Cinnamon Rolls sold in 16.5-ounce containers with a printed UPC of 078742201160

The recalled pastries were sold before November 1, meaning they may still be in consumers' kitchens or stored in refrigerators or freezers. If you purchased one of these items, check the packaging to see if your bakery item matches the recall information. If so, return it to your local Walmart for a refund.

This recall was categorized as a Class II recall, which means consuming the recalled product "may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences," according to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). If you are experiencing any concerning symptoms after consuming the products, contact your healthcare provider immediately.
