But you may want to check your freezer before reaching for them, as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recalled over 600 types of frozen waffles due to possible listeria contamination. On Friday, October 18, TreeHouse Foods Inc. issued a voluntary recall for its frozen waffle products sold at various grocery chains such as Target, Walmart, Aldi, and others across the U.S. and Canada. The recall was initiated during routine testing at the manufacturing facility, according to an announcement by TreeHouse Foods Inc. The affected products include frozen waffles, Belgian waffles, and pancakes, including products from Kodiak Cake, Giant Eagle, Trader Joe's, Foodhold, Simple Truth, Western Family, and other brands. You can view the full list of recalled products here. When consumed, listeria can lead to an infection called listeriosis. Symptoms include fever, muscle aches, fatigue, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions. Symptoms can occur right away or up to 10 weeks after eating food contaminated with listeria, the FDA says. While there haven't been any confirmed reports of illnesses linked to the recall, the FDA and TreeHouse Foods are encouraging consumers to check their freezers for the products listed in the recall and throw them out or return them for a refund. If you are concerned about illness related to the recall, contact your healthcare provider. If you have any questions or concerns about the recall, contact the company at 800-596-2903, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Central Standard Time. Was this page helpful?
