The company has issues a recall on 2.6 million Switchback and Trigger Action stainless steel travel mugs due to a defect causing burn injuries, according to a report by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reports. The lid threads on these products shrink when exposed to heat and torque, causing the lid to detach during use, posing a burn hazard, CPSC says. All Stanley Switchback and Trigger Action stainless steel travel mugs that were sold in the United States from June 2016 through December 2024 are included in the recall. Locations that carried the recalled products include Amazon, Walmart, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Target. The recalled double-walled mugs were sold in various colors, including white, black, and green, in 12-ounce, 16-ounce, and 20-ounce sizes with a polypropylene lid. The Stanley logo appears on the front and bottom of the mug. The following identification numbers will be found at the bottom of the Switchback recalled mugs: 12 ounces: 20-0143716 ounces: 20-01436, 20-0221112 ounces: 20-02033, 20-02779, 20-02825 The following identification numbers will be found at the bottom of the Trigger Action recalled mugs: 16 ounces: 20-02030, 20-02745, 20-0295720 ounces: 20-02034, 20-02746 So far, Stanley has received 91 reports of the travel mugs' lids coming off during use. This has resulted in 38 burn injuries across the world, with two burn injuries in the U.S., and 11 consumers worldwide requiring medical attention. Stanley advises consumers to immediately stop using the recalled travel mugs and contact the company to receive a free replacement lid. Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback! Tell us why!
