Experience

Samantha Johnson is an author, proofreader, garden writer, and farm girl. Her work appears regularly in national magazines and she's a long-time magazine columnist. She's the author or co-author of nearly two dozen books on rural living, horses, gardening, beekeeping, and pets published by Quarto, Scholastic, and other publishers.

Samantha enjoys growing vegetables of all kinds, but she has a special love for heirloom varieties and believes strongly in the importance of preserving and protecting these historic varieties for the future. She particularly loves growing tomatoes, beans, and squash.

Aside from gardening and writing about gardening, Samantha enjoys finding typographical errors as a proofreader, and she has a not-so-secret love of email marketing. She's a certified horse show judge and has judged horse shows from coast to coast. She lives on a former dairy farm where they make hay when the sun shines.
