Pantone just announced its Color of the Year 2025—and it's a major departure from last year's soft peach hue. The company has chosen PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse—a mellow brown that's practical and simultaneously elevated—as its 2025 shade. 

The rich color is sophisticated and lush, asserting itself as an unpretentious classic. "Underpinned by our desire for everyday pleasures, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse expresses a level of thoughtful indulgence," Leatrice Eiseman, executive director at Pantone Color Institute says. She adds that this shade alters people's perception of brown as a humble and grounded shade to one that's aspirational and luxe. 

While this color feels elevated and expensive, it also has an approachable earthy quality that can connect spaces to the natural world. "Infused with subtle elegance and earthy refinement, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse presents a discrete and tasteful touch of glamour," says Eiseman.
