This year, she switched things up and spent the holiday in Namibia, Africa surrounded by wildlife and beautiful views. Just as she did during her Thanksgiving trip to Rome, Italy, Martha shared pictures and videos from her vacation on Instagram. Her itinerary featured tours of local reserves, helicopter rides, and a visit to a national park. Here's a closer look at Martha's holiday vacation in Africa. Martha Just Planted Thousands of Spring-Blooming Bulbs on Her Farm—See the Process Here Tour of Ongava Game Reserve On Christmas Eve, Martha drove through Ongava Game Reserve where she spotted various animals such as a rhinoceros, antelope, impalas, land tortoises, and terrapins. "The sunset was spectacular," she wrote in an Instagram post. Christmas Day Drive Through Etosha National Park On Christmas day, Martha toured Etosha National Park in Namibia, which she said was full of surprises. "Many giraffes of all ages were spotted, many bird species, antelopes, tortoises and a stop at Africas second largest salt pan," she wrote. In the evening, she trekked up a rocky hillside to see the area's oldest and most beautiful tree. Quick Flight to the Western Desert On December 27, Martha took a one-hour flight from Ongava Game Reserve to the western desert. She stayed at A&K Sanctuary, a collection of safari lodges and luxury camps in Africa’s national parks. "The lodge is beautiful and comfortable and beautifully designed for quiet and privacy," Martha captioned an Instagram post. Martha especially enjoyed the desert's beautiful rock formations located close to the lodge. "Beautiful, mysterious and eternally remote," she said of the formations. Tour of the Namib Desert Martha also had the opportunity to explore the Namib Desert in a caravan alongside friends. During her time in the dessert, she met a small local tribe who sells handmade products. Martha and her family purchased carvings and ornaments made by members of the tribe to commemorate their special trip. Toured the Skeleton Coast by Helicopter Before her trip concluded, Martha spent time touring the Skeleton Coast, a long coastal stretch in Namibia. "The best way to see the Skeleton Coast is by helicopter," she wrote in an Instagram post. "We spent two hours touring the west coast of Namibia flying low over beautiful terrain."
