To help you get a jump start, Yelp recently shared its annual trend report, highlighting emerging lifestyle trends for 2025. The list has plenty of inspiration, whether you want to start a new hobby or get more involved in your community. To create its report, Yelp analyzed changes in consumer searches, comparing searches from September 2023 through August 2024 to the previous 12 months to find these trending lifestyle hobbies and activities. Here's a look at the four lifestyle trends the platform predicts will be huge next year. 10 Hobbies for Older Adults That Improve Brain and Body Health In-Person Community Building According to Yelp, people are increasingly searching for ways to make in-person connections, whether it's finding local clubs or group activities. Searches for run clubs are up 82 percent, chess clubs are up 47 percent, social clubs are up 39 percent, and book clubs are up 26 percent. These clubs show more people are prioritizing real-life connections while putting phones to the side. Enjoying a healthy dose of competition with peers is growing in popularity as well. Pickleball continues to be a sensation many gravitate towards, while padel (another racket sport) is seeing a 94 percent uptick in searches. Trivia is up 58 percent and modern lawn clubs, where one plays games like bocce and croquet, are up 682 percent. Dopamine-Boosting Hobbies Mood-boosting activities are also growing in popularity. Yelp says people are turning to group classes to learn new, engaging skills. For example, searches for songwriting classes are up 540 percent, blacksmith classes are up 516 percent, dance classes are up 197 percent, and sewing classes are up 76 percent. Other emerging hobbies include pasta-making, latte art, and jewelry-making. 8 Things to Do in the Morning to Improve Productivity Grown-Up Getaways In 2025, grown-up getaways and retreats will be a major trend. According to Yelp, searches for adult summer camps have spiked 347 percent. People are also searching for postpartum retreats (up 475 percent), fitness retreats (up 83 percent), wellness retreats (up 58 percent), and holistic retreats (up 68 percent). These searches reflect a growing desire for opportunities to relax, heal, and make new connections with peers. Businesses are beginning to blend these two things, which has caught the attention of many looking for new, fun activities. Searches for places like laundromat bars are up 347 percent, bookstore and plant shops are up 235 percent, and book bars are up 85 percent.
