While you might think your neighborhood is the spookiest of all this Halloween season—your town could be tied with a nearby zip code. To settle the debate, Instacart has created a tool to get down to the facts of which cities in the United States have the most exuberant Halloween experience this year with their new interactive Halloween map and "Scare Score" technology.

What Is a Scare Score, and How Is It Calculated?

Instacart's interactive map tool has collected data from the previous Halloween seasons to determine which cities purchased the most candy, costumes, and dècor based on the shopping data and volume of orders per person in the area. The scare score is ranked out of 100, featuring an index for all categories. You can find your neighborhood scare score by searching your zip code in the tool and viewing how your city ranks in each category.

The results for each zip code share the best-seller candies and local faves calculated by the total weight of each candy that was delivered in the zip code in October of 2023. You can boost your city's scare score this year by ordering your candy, costumes, and dècor for delivery.
