The recalled products were distributed to retail stores nationwide. New Age International Inc, based in Brooklyn, NY, is recalling its Daily Veggies Enoki mushrooms because of the possibility of listeria contamination. The product comes in a 200-gram, clear plastic package printed with UPC code 8809159458890 on the back. Mushrooms Recalled Nationwide Due to Potential Listeria Contamination Samples of the mushrooms were collected from a store in Baltimore, Maryland. The presence of listeria was discovered following analysis by the State of Maryland Department of Health Laboratories Administration. Any remaining products in the warehouse were destroyed following the discovery. Listeria is a pathogenic bacteria that can be transmitted to food. When consumed, individuals may develop a disease called listeriosis. Symptoms of listeriosis include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, according to the FDA. Symptoms typically begin a few hours to three days after consumption, but severe forms may take up to three months to develop.If you purchased the product from October 2024 to November 2024, the FDA advises you to throw it out immediately or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
