The 10 Top Cities With the Best Curb Appeal—According to New Report

Have you ever driven through a new city, state, or neighborhood and admired how the houses look like they belong on the cover of a magazine? We're talking: Beautifully bloomed hydrangeas, picture-perfect fountain grass, and a crisp-edged lawn. If you're familiar with home and garden TV shows, you know this is often referred to as "curb appeal." Because a home's exterior can vary from neighborhood to neighborhood, Thumbtack released its Fall Curb Appeal Report, highlighting the top 10 U.S. cities with the best curb appeal.

Thumbtack's list is based on which cities embarked on the most curb appeal projects completed from August 2023 to August 2024.

"Rankings were based on the relative frequency of such requests adjusted for the population of each metropolitan area," the website says. Such projects included asphalt repairs and maintenance, deck or porch repairs, exterior painting, full-service lawn care, gutter cleaning, lawn mowing, landscaping and design, pest control services, pressure washing, roof repairs and maintenance, shrub trimming, sprinkler system installation, sprinkler system repairs and maintenance, tree trimming, weeding, window cleaning, and window installation.

Out of all the cities in the U.S., Southern cities tended to dominate the list, with Texas securing two top five spots and North Carolina and Florida ranking in the top 10 as well. Here's the list of the top 10 cities with the best curb appeal, according to Thumbtack:
