The products were recalled because they can potentially be contaminated with elevated levels of lead. The most recent products recalled are El Servidor Corp ground cinnamon, Gutierrez ground cinnamon, and Asli cinnamon powder. According to a report by the FDA, both El Servidor Corp and Gutierrez brand ground cinnamon products were distributed to retail stores in New York starting on January 14, 2024, and were sold in 1.5-ounce clear plastic bags. Cinnamon Recalled Across Multiple States Due To Possible Lead Contamination The recalled Asli cinnamon powder was distributed to retail locations in Minnesota, Indiana, Illinois, Montana, and Ohio, per the FDA. The Asli cinnamon powder was sold in 7-ounce bags and is identified by the lot number "DDDLUS" and UPC "703440150723." There have been no illnesses related to any of these products to date, but the FDA urges consumers to discard the recalled cinnamon products immediately or return them to the place of purchase for a refund. The effects of lead on the body depend on the amount and duration of lead exposure, according to the FDA. Short term exposure to low levels of lead may not cause any symptoms beyond elevated blood lead levels. However, young children exposed to enough lead for a prolonged period of time may experience permanent damage to the central nervous system. Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback!
